Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How much do TransporTeens.com services cost?
A. Because each case is unique in factors such as place of origin, destination,
advance notice, etc. TransporTeens does not have a set fee schedule. We
strive to be affordable and competitive.
Transporteens has the unique feature of employing teams of agents in several
regions of the country and near some major metropolitan areas. This allows
us to save our clients considerable amounts on airfares.
We encourage inquiring parents to contact us by phone or E-mail and we
can give an accurate quote within 2 hours in most cases.
Q. How much advance notice does TransporTeens.com need?
A. 24 hours is desirable as a minimum, this allows the team to contact
the parent and help to prepare for a successful experience. We know, however,
that sometimes families are in crisis and need immediate assistance. With
of our regional agents we can be anywhere in the U.S in 8 hours or less
in most cases.
Q. How involved will I have to be with the actual transport?
A .Minimally if that is what you are comfortable with. We help parents
prepare in advance for the physical exigencies of the transport. We will
need a parent or trusted family member or friend to make an introduction
of our agents to the child and then leave the immediate vicinity and let
our agents explain the situation. The Lead agent will make contact with
the parent at agreed upon times to let them know how things are progressing
and of any delays or problems and immediately upon arrival at the receiving
school or program with a complete report on how the transport went.
Q. What other services does TransporTeens provide?
A. We can provide for program to program transfers, escorts to court dates
or evaluations and, companion services for minors traveling alone. We
are qualified to receive adults and juveniles from correctional, detention,
and therapeutic facilities for transport.
Q. What if my child refuses to go with the agents or tries to run?
A. Our teams are very aware that most of the children we escort are not
going to be willing participants. From the moment we are introduced until
we arrive at the receiving program the child is never more than 2-3 feet
from an agent if not both. If a child initially refuses to go, our Lead
agent will use positive communication to help the child see that the decision
has been made that he/she is going and it would be beneficial to all parties
involved for the child to cooperate. If the child is escalating or the
situation is dangerous or deteriorating our agents are trained to take
physical control of the child and will remove the child from the home
and then again work on communication and de-escalation away from the home
environment
To discourage run attempts the team will first make sure the teens has
no tools or accomplish this. The agents will search pockets before the
teen leaves the home and will not allow the teen to have a cell phone,
money, phone numbers, etc. When leaving the home the team will have physical
control of the child. The physical control may be continued while transiting
airports, etc. All automotive transport of the child will take place in
vehicles equipped with child safety locks with the child seat belted in
the right rear seat with an agent seated in the left rear seat. If a child
attempts to run away or becomes unpredictable or violent, physical control
will be taken of the child.
Q. What are the legal issues concerning transport of my child.
A. TransporTeens requires of parents or guardians a signed release and
permission to transport for minors. This document is recognized by law
enforcement as a temporary limited custody document. Because our agents
are trained in physical control, restraining or detaining a child within
the bounds of that training cannot be referred to as abuse. Minors do
not have the legal right to refuse transport. In some States 17 year olds
have been given limited rights not to be held or transported against their
will.
In cases of joint custody of a child, both custodial parents will have
to sign the permission to transport.
Q. Is financing available for transports?
A. Yes, we work closely with Melissa Waters (melissa@troubledteendirectory.com /435-229-3572) and she can arrange a financing package for the transport
as well as treatment and education.
